Quick beef chilli yum noodles
A quick dinner
What you need
Per serving:
- Noodles - like those big fat white rice noodles.
- A big long fat green chilli.
- Ginger - a piece about the and inch long by half an inch.
- A large clove of garlic.
- Radish leaves.
- Beef. Half a pound of rump steak.
- Tomato puree.
- About half a 400g tin of tomatoes.
One saucepan, one frying pan.
How long you need
About 15 or 20 minutes for cutting and chopping and slicing and mixing, which you can do ahead of time.
5 or 10 minutes for cooking. It's so quick.
What to do
Ahead of time
Get rid of the chilli seeds, then slice the chilli up finely.
Cut the ginger into fine strips.
Cut the garlic into fine strips as well.
Slice the steak into, erm, fine strips. Long thin strips about 1/8th inch thick.
Mix the chilli, ginger, garlic and strips of well together in a pot or something.
Wash some radish leaves and mix them in with the chopped tomatoes and some tomato puree in another pot. A pinch of sugar mixed in with these won't hurt.
Cooking
Heat some oil in the frying pan.
Start cooking the noodles.
Throw the mixed beef, ginger, garlic and chilli into the frying pan. These will cook quickly because everything's sliced so finely (see?). By the time you've flipped the beef strips over to cook both sides you'll be wanting to draing the noodles.
While the hot cooked noodles wait in the saucepan the beef will be cooked on both sides so throw the tomato and radish leaf mix into the frying pan and mix it in.
Done!
Serve. Eat.
